Cello und Gitarre: eine ungewöhnliche Kombination? Keineswegs!

Im brasilianischen Bossanova findet man häufig das Cello als Begleit- oder Leadinstrument, nicht erst seit dem Cellisten Jacques Morelenbaum, der gemeinsam mit Antonio Carlos Jobim einige der Bossa-Hits interpretierte.

Die charakteristische warme Klangfarbe des Cello harmoniert hervorragend mit der eher perkussiven Gitarre. Daraus ergibt sich eine klangliche Variabilität, die sowohl für Bossa-Klassiker wie Girl from Ipanema oder One Note Samba als auch für Pop-Songs wie Fragile von Sting oder Get lucky von Daft Punk eine harmonische Basis bildet.

Brazilian bossanova often times features the cello as accompanying or even lead instrument. This holds true since the days of famous cellist Jacques Morelenbaum, who rendered some well-known interpretations of bossa hits together with Antonio Carlos Jobim.

The characteristic warm acoustic color of the cello blends nicely with the rather percussive guitar. They result in a sonic variation providing an interesting harmonic basis for bossa classics like Girl from Ipanema or One Note Samba as well as pop songs like Fragile by Sting or Get lucky by Daft Punk.
